Visitors to the Galvin Library
The Paul V. Galvin Library exists to support the educational
mission of Illinois Institute of Technology and the scholarship
and research of members of the IIT community: students, alumni,
visiting scholars, faculty, staff and their spouses.
IIT students, faculty and staff must present
a current IIT ID at the entrance to the library after 6:00 p.m.
Students and faculty from institutions with which IIT has reciprocal
agreements may be admitted if they have valid and current photo
IDs from those institutions. The list of institutions may be found
at: http://office.ilcso.illinois.edu/fm/directory/search.htm
The Galvin Library is a Federal Depository Library.
It complies with the Federal Depository Library Program. The Federal
Depository Library Program (44 USC 19) provides for the establishment
and maintenance of depository libraries and the distribution of
Government documents to those libraries for use by the public. (Federal
Depository Library Manual, 11/93)
As participants in the federal Depository Library
Program, Galvin Library provides access to federal government documents.
Visitors wishing to use the documents should enquire at the Circulation desk. Visitors from another library with an INFOPASS may
be granted access, but must present a Government Issue photo with
the INFOPASS.
Non-members of the IIT community may visit the
library and use its Government Depository and other resources, between
initial opening hours and 6:00 p.m. Galvin library staff reserves
the right to limit access to materials, resources, or equipment
needed by IIT students and faculty.
Visitors must conduct themselves in a way that
doesn't disrupt the study environment of the library or threaten
damage to library collections, resources, facilities, or equipment.
Each visitor under the age of 17 must be accompanied
by an adult, 21 years of age or older, and must accept the terms
stated above. In addition, parents are responsible for the use of
the library and the behavior of their children.
Visitors who fail to adhere to these policies
will be asked to leave the library.
