Accessing Library
Databases From Off-Campus Library Catalogs:
-
Use library catalogs to search for books and journal
holdings. The IIT Library Catalog searches for books and
journals held by Galvin Library and IIT's branch libraries.
I-Share searches the catalogs of dozens of academic libraries that are part of the
CARLI library consortium. WorldCat is an online catalog of
over 8000 libraries worldwide. All three catalogs can be
accessed from http://www.gl.iit.edu/resources/catalogs.htm
-
IIT Library Catalog
and I-Share are not
restricted; WorldCat is. You must log on using
EZ-Proxy
to access WorldCat.
Library Databases:
-
In order to make our electronic resources
available to the IIT community from off campus locations, the Galvin
Library uses an authentication system called EZ Proxy. Log onto
EZ-Proxy
to access all of the library resources, including
electronic
journals,
databases and e-reserves.
-
Use databases to search for full-text articles
and article citations in various subjects. See
Subject
Guides for specific databases by subject.
-
If you are coming from behind a company firewall, you
may have problems accessing restricted databases via Proxy. In
many cases, this is due to corporate security policies.
