Obtaining Books and Articles

Borrowing books and getting articles:

IIT Online students have the following options:

  • Visit the IIT libraries.

  • Visit one of the dozens of other university and college libraries in Illinois that, together with Galvin, constitute part of the CARLI library consortium. IIT students have on-site borrowing privileges at these libraries.

  • Use your local public library  near your home or IIITV site.

Getting books and articles on interlibrary loan:

  • If an article is not available in full-text online or in a library to which you can go, place an interlibrary loan request online through the Galvin Library using MyILL.  Once all the required fields are completed on the form, the request is sent directly to the Circulation Desk, and you will be notified via e-mail when the article is available.

  • If a book is not available from your library or a CARLI member library to which you can go, place an interlibrary loan request through your public library.

  • Questions about interlibrary loan?  Contact the Circulation Desk at 312.567.6847.
