Disaster Plan

The Paul V. Galvin Library’s Disaster Plan Manual and Digital Emergency Preparedness and Recovery Plan have been developed as part of an ongoing effort to protect our physical and digital collections, respectively. They document library-wide capability for organized mitigation, preparation, and timely recovery from minor and major unforeseen physical disasters and disruptions of service.

Both plans are administered by a series of committees whose members are comprised of permanent library staff from various departments.

2012 Digital Emergency Preparedness and Recovery Plan [PDF]

The purpose of this plan is to sustain continued access and preservation of the digital assets that have been entrusted to the Galvin library, as well as their supporting systems, through preparation, planning, and developed recovery scenarios. This plan is intended to communicate to IIT staff the guiding disaster preparedness principles, policies, and recovery plans for the library’s digital assets and services.

The Paul V. Galvin Library’s plans will be reviewed and updated annually starting in 2012.
