Begin your book search with the IIT Library Catalog. Use the IIT Library Catalog to search for books, e-books, and print journals held by IIT libraries. View your patron record at "My Account" to see items checked out from IIT and I-Share libraries.

I-Share Catalog
If the item you want is not available at IIT libraries, then try your search in I-Share. The I-Share catalog allows access to the collections of dozens of academic libraries that are part of CARLI (Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois). You can search for, request and renew items without the assistance of library staff. Before submitting a book request, make sure the item is not available in the IIT Library Catalog. I-Share borrowing is available only for IIT students, faculty, staff and other eligible patrons.

In order to request a book, you must first create a user account.

World Cat
WorldCat is an online catalog that contains the holdings of more than 8,000 libraries worldwide. If the item is not available in I-Share, then try this catalog. You can place requests in WorldCat for materials not owned by IIT or I-Share Libraries. This resource is restricted to IIT students, faculty, and staff.

  1. Search WorldCat for the item(s) you want.
  2. When you have found a book, click the Request this item button in the "External Resources" section of the item record.
  3. You may be prompted to log in to your MyILL account. If so, log in.
  4. The item information will be pasted into the ILL Book request form. Make sure the information is correct and click Submit Request.
